Season 3

    The Prom - Original Airdate: May 11, 1999
    This episode marks Xander & Anya's first conversation and the beginning of their relationsip. Anya, still confused and annoyed by her new mortal status, is troubled by her conflicting feelings of hatred towards men and her teenage need for a prom date. Xander eventually decides to take Anya to the prom, but their date is somewhat uncomfortable, due to Anya's long and descriptive stories about her days as a vengeance demon.

    Graduation Day Part 1 - Original Airdate: May 18, 1999
    In this episode, we find Anya almost pleading with Xander to spend time with her - offering to watch sports with him in order to be with him. Xander blows her off, but mentions the upcoming Acension and Anya freaks out, as she's the only person still living who's actually been to an Acension before. He makes her tell all to Buffy and the gang, and then Anya flees, informing Xander that a smart person would run. She returns, however, begging Xander to come with her, unable to bear the thought of him being harmed. Xander refuses to be a coward and Anya leaves.

Season 4

    The Harsh Light of Day - Original Airdate: October 19, 1999
    Anya returns unexpectedly in this episode, confused and anxious about her "relationship" with Xander. She informs him that in order to get over him, she needs to have sex with him. Xander is shocked and at first declines Anya's advances, but then relents. Afterward, they both feel awkward and Anya is obviously not over Xander, but she tells him that she is anyway, and leaves. She returns later on, trying to tell Xander that she was wrong, and that she's not over him yet, but Xander is preoccupied with Scooby Gang dilemmas and blows her off once again.

    Fear Itself - Original Airdate: October 26, 1999
    Still desperate to be close to him, Anya goes to Xander again. This time, he gives in and invites her to a Halloween party, instructing her to wear a scary costume. The party turns out to be a haunted nightmare of an event, during which Xander and the Scoobies are trapped inside the house. Anya, frightened for Xander's life, seeks out Giles and begs his help in saving Xander, as she is unconcerned with anyone else at the party. Eventually the gang escapes and as they scarf down candy treats later on, Xander teases Anya about her choice of a "scary" costume... a bunny rabbit.

    Pangs - Original Airdate: November 23, 1999
    Although it wasn't mentioned in the few episodes prior to this, it's obvious that Xander & Anya's relationship has progressed since the Halloween incident. The episode opens with Anya practically drooling over the fact that she's going to see Xander dig. When Xander is falls into the hole he is digging and is plagued with a plethora of diseases, Anya cares for him and Xander, in his "possible" delerium, calls her his girlfriend.

    Hush - Original Airdate: December 14, 1999
    During a squabble in the beginning of the episode, Anya is frustrated because she doesn't think Xander really cares about her and doesn't know how he feels about her. She accuses him of using her for sex, only she uses a much more blatant choice of words. After the town falls silent due to "The Gentlemen" attacking, Xander's true feelings emerge when he mistakenly believes Spike has fed off Anya. Xander pummels Spike to the ground, but is interrupted by Anya, who is alive and well (she was only sleeping). Xander hugs and kisses her, pleasing Anya to no end. She then gestures that they should go have sex and the two scurry off.

    Goodbye Iowa - Original Airdate: February 15, 2000
    Anya's protective and jealous sides show up as she councils Buffy on her love life, informing her that she should find a boring boyfriend, like Xander, only NOT Xander. Anya also is frightened when Buffy asks Xander to come along with her as they break into the Initiative. She insists that he not go, fearing for his safety, but Xander promises her that he'll be careful.

    Where the Wild Things Are - Original Airdate: April 25, 2000
    This episode features our couple going through some relationship difficulties. Anya is upset because she and Xander didn't have sex the night before and takes this to mean he is breaking up with her. Xander tries to calm her down, but they end up fighting more. Anya tries to get some of her anger off her chest by talking with Spike, and then the two go to a party that Xander is also at... which also happens to be haunted. The two get into another fight here, and storm away from each other. They make their way out of the building when the house becomes more dangerous, but Xander is determined to go back in to help his friends. Xander goes back in, and Anya follows. The two are attacked and separated. Xander gets locked in the bathroom and is almost drowned in the tub, while Anya, who was tossed over the balcony, wakes up and makes her way back up the stairs, angry and determined to save Xander. She rescues him from the bathtub and the two seek out Buffy and Riley, only to find them having sex in Riley's bedroom, unharmed and oblivious. Anya & Xander have resolved their fight by the end of the episode.

    Primeval - Original Airdate: May 16, 2000
    Words of love are spoken for the first time in this episode. Still upset by the trouble between himself and the Scoobies, Xander is depressed and can't bring himself to get out of bed. Anya finds him and tries to cheer him up. She tells him that he shouldn't worry about what his friends think of him because she loves him and he's a good person - nothing else should matter. Xander agrees with her, but still is not convinced.

    Restless - Original Airdate: May 23, 2000
    In Xander's dream, he is in the ice cream truck with Anya and the two are discussing her ideas about getting back into vengeance. Xander is upset about it, but Anya is calm as he tells her that it's a bad idea. They are interrupted by Tara & Willow who appear in the back of the truck.

Season 5

    Buffy vs. Dracula - Original Airdate: September 26, 2000
    When Dracula comes to town, Anya recalls the days when she and the dark prince were "friends." Her words of praise make Xander jealous, but Anya reassures she isn't "panting" over Dracula. She stills refuses to come back to Xander's place with him though - it's whites day and the smell of bleach makes her nauseous.

    The Replacement - Original Airdate: October 10, 2000
    Xander's financial difficulties come to light when he tries to rent a new apartment and realizes he can't afford it. He is left feeling foolish in front of the gang and an annoyed Anya who doesn't understand why he won't buy her the apartment. A demon who is attacking the gang accidentally hits Xander and he is split into two Xanders. One is suave and knows all the right things to say, and the other is the loser Xander with scruffy clothes and chock full of insecurities. Anya is confused by the two Xanders and refuses to believe that Scruffy Xander is the real one, especially since Suave Xander has received a promotion and work and can now afford Anya's dream apartment. The gang explains to her what happened and they all hustle to merge the Xander's back together again, though Anya does suggest she take them both home and have sex with them first.

    Into the Woods - Original Airdate: December 19, 2000
    Problems between Anya and Willow arise in this episode when Xander seems to side with Willow in an argument. Anya takes offense and accuses the gang of picking on her because she's an ex-demon. Throughout the episode, Xander seems to be giving Anya a cold shoulder, more interested in what's going on with Buffy and Riley. Eventually, after lecturing Buffy about her breakup with Riley, Xander realizes something and rushes off to Anya's. Xander tells Anya how in love with her he is and how she makes him feel. Anya is touched and even gets a bit teary eyed. The two kiss and all is well.

    Triangle - Original Airdate: January 9, 2001
    The episode begins with Anya & Xander in bed. They discuss Riley leaving and Buffy's bad luck with men. Anya informs Xander that she wants a LOT of warning if he ever decides to leave. Later on, annoyed that Willow and Anya keep trying to drag him into their arguments, Xander tells the two to settle their differences on their own, leaving them in the magic shop together. The two accidentally free a large troll that Anya once dated (before she became a demon). He goes on a destructive spree throughout Sunnydale. While looking for a spell to get rid of the troll, Anya and Willow begin talking and Anya realizes that Willow is afraid Anya will hurt Xander. She swears that she wouldn't do anything to him, but Willow is still skeptical. When the troll is alone with Willow, Xander and Anya, he decides that Xander must choose which of the two women will die. Xander refuses to choose and the troll decides that he will kill Xander instead. Anya begs the troll to kill her instead, but Buffy arrives in time to save them all. The troll tells Buffy that her friends aren't worth fighting for and that Anya and Xander will never last. This infuriates her and she proceeds to take down the huge beast. Anya explains to Xander that she and Willow have talked it all out.

    Checkpoint - Original Airdate: January 23, 2001
    When the council pays Buffy a visit to test her Slayer qualities, her friends become the subject of their review as well. Xander does his best to defend his position on the slaying team, as Anya goes out of her way to hide the fact that she was once a demon, making the truth all the more obvious.

    The Body - Original Airdate: February 27, 2001
    After the death of Buffy's mother, Anya is left stunned and confused by the mortality of human beings. In one of her most heart-wrenching moments, Anya expresses her grief and pleas with Willow and Xander to explain the how's and why's of death. Willow offers a meger explanation, but Anya is still left with her original statement: "but I don't understand..."

    Forever - Original Airdate: April 17, 2001
    Everyone is still shaken by the loss of Buffy's mother. Xander and Anya try to seek comfort in each other. After making love, Anya tells Xander that Joyce's death has made her realize how precious a human life is and how she relishes her humanity now because she realizes that she can make a life. Xander gets a little nervous as Anya continues speaking about having a baby. She calms him and tells him she doesn't mean now, but it's just nice to know she can in the future. Xander begins to breathe easy again.

    The Gift - Original Airdate: May 22, 2001
    As the gang prepares for the final showdown with Glory, Xander decides to ask Anya to marry him. Anya's initial reaction is not what Xander expects. She believes he's only asking because he thinks they're all going to die and he'll never actually have to marry her, but Xander tells Anya that he can't imagine living his life without her in it. She relents and says yes, but then tells Xander to wait until the world doesn't end, and then give her the ring.

Season 6

    Bargaining - Original Airdate: October 02, 2001
    As the gang struggles to cope without Buffy, and works on their plan to resurrect the dead Slayer, Anya continually tries to get Xander to reveal their engagement to the others, but Xander informs her that the time isn't right and they have to wait until things return to some kind of normal. Anya continues to look for ways to bring up the engagement in conversations, but Xander silences her each time.

    Flooded - Original Airdate: October 16, 2001
    Anya offers suggestions on how Buffy can get out of debt by charging for slaying. She is angered when Xander takes Dawn's side over her own in a little argument, and storms out. Once Xander catches up, Anya lets him know how angry she is with him for not announcing their engagement to the others.

    All the Way - Original Airdate: October 30, 2001
    After a busy but profitable Halloween at the Magic Box, Xander finally decides the time is right and announces his engagement to Anya to the rest of the scoobies. Anya is overjoyed, and the gang throw them a quick engagement party to celebrate. Though happy, Xander still seems nervous and overwhelmed about their future together.

    Once More, with Feeling - Original Airdate: November 6, 2001
    Xander accidentally summons a demon that causes people to sing and dance until they burst into flames. The entire episode is filled with songs from the Scoobies. Xander and Anya have one duet called "I'll Never Tell," in which they sing about their doubts about getting married and their small grievances with one another, but also about their love.

    Tabula Rasa - Original Airdate: November 13, 2001
    One of Willow's spells goes wrong causing the Scoobies to lose their memories. Xander and Willow believe they're a couple, and Anya and Giles believe that since the Magic Box is in their names, they must be engaged. Wackiness ensues, but all is put right in the end.

    Gone - Original Airdate: January 8, 2002
    Buffy is turned invisible and as the gang try to figure out how to fix her, Anya obsesses over where to seat people at her wedding and what kind of dress and haircut she should have.

    Doublemeat Palace - Original Airdate: January 29, 2002
    Anya's friend Halfrek, another vengeance demon, arrives at Xander & Anya's apartment, ready to grant Anya vengeance against Xander until Anya informs her that she summoned her to be a guest at the wedding, not to attack Xander. Xander scurries away from the apartment as quickly as possible, leaving Anya and Halfrek to discuss Xander. As Anya tries to praise all his virtues, Halfrek tries to find fault with each of them, until Anya has to drop the subject entirely.

    Older and Far Away - Original Airdate: February 12, 2002
    Anya and Xander throw a birthday party for Buffy and invite a friend they're hoping to hook Buffy up with, thus making double dates possible for them in the future. Unfortunately, the party goes awry when the gang is trapped in the house after Dawn makes a wish with a vengeance demon. Anya starts to go stir crazy, but Xander does his best to comfort and calm her until they're freed.

    As You Were - Original Airdate: February 26, 2002
    The big wedding day is fast approaching, causing both Xander and Anya's stress levels to rise. They worry about the arrival of Xander's relatives and Anya's demon friends, but after seeing Riley with his new wife Sam, Xander tells Anya that while he dreads their wedding, he knows their marriage is going to be happy and last forever.

    Hell's Bells - Original Airdate: March 5, 2002
    The wedding day arrives and Xander becomes more nervous and worried, especially after being reminded of how unhappy his parents' marriage is. Anya, meanwhile, is happy and excited about everything, sure of her love for Xander. At the wedding hall, an old man approaches Xander before the ceremony begins, claiming to be Xander from the future. He gives Xander a view of what his future with Anya will be like - violent and filled with hate, confirming the Xander's fears. The vision ends with Xander hitting Anya with an iron skillet. Frightened, Xander flees the wedding, leaving his friends to try to hide his absence from Anya. After Anya learns the truth she stops the old man and when she demands to know what he told Xander, Anya discover he's not an old man after all, but a demon she punished in her vengeance days, now seeking revenge upon her. Xander returns in time to help Buffy kill the demon and Anya explains to him that what the demon showed him was all a lie. But seeing parents once again, Xander still sees the possibility, and tells Anya he can't marry her because he doesn't want to hurt her. He apologizes and leaves her alone at the hall. Anya is later comforted by D'Hoffryn who offers to give her back her job as a vengeance demon.

    Entropy - Original Airdate: April 30, 2002
    Anya returns to town and Xander again apologizes for how much he hurt her. Anya assumes he means he should have married her, but Xander tries to explain that while he still wants to marry her eventually, he doesn't think it was the right time. This angers Anya and she secretly reverts to her vengeance demon form and wishes that he had never been born... but nothing happens. She tries several more wishes, but nothing works and Anya storms out of the apartment. While talking with Halfrek later, she is reminded that as a vengeance demon, she can't grant wishes for herself and if she wants vengeance on Xander, she'll need to find someone else to wish it for her. Anya tries to manipulate the Scoobies into wishing bad things upon Xander, but to no avail. She later takes solace in sex with Spike, but is caught on tape by the Scoobies, and Xander is furious and bitter towards her and it looks like the end for them.

    Villains - Original Airdate: May 14, 2002
    Anya reveals to Xander that she is once again a vengeance demon.

    Two to Go - Original Airdate: May 21, 2002
    Xander and Anya argue over various aspects of their breakup while trying to protect Jonathan and Andrew from Willow. Xander is still angry at Anya for sleeping with Spike until she tells him that what happened with Spike wasn't vengeance against Xander, but solace for herself.

Season 7

    Beneath You - Original Airdate: October 1, 2002
    Anya is busy working as a vengeance demon again (apparently she has a quota to meet), but the gang catches up with her after she turns someone's ex into a giant worm monster. Xander tries to reason with her and after Anya blames him for her current situation, he tells her that excuse can only be used so many times - at some point she has to take responsibility for her choices. Xander convinces Anya to do the right thing and reverse her spell.

    Selfless - Original Airdate: October 22, 2002
    After another of Anya's vengeance spells causes the death of several college boys, Buffy decides it's time to kill Anya. Xander refuses to believe Anya is beyond redemption and sets out to warn her, but Anya won't listen to him. She and Buffy fight, but are stopped by the arrival of D'Hoffryn, who gives Anya what she truly wants - the deaths reversed. He takes away Anya's vengeance powers once and for all, leaving her to find her place as a human in the world. Xander offers to help her, but Anya tells him she has to find out who she is on her own; she's clung to others for too long.

    Never Leave Me - Original Airdate: November 26, 2002
    Xander and Anya team up to interrogate Andrew, with Xander playing good cop, Anya as the bad cop. They seem to be okay with their relationship as just friends.

    First Date - Original Airdate: February 11, 2003
    Xander has a date, which upsets Anya and jealously rears its ugly head - apparently she's still not completely over him. Luckily for Anya, the date goes terribly, as Xander ends up with another demon girl, and this one tries to kill him. Thankfully, Buffy comes to his rescue.

    Storyteller - Original Airdate: February 25, 2003
    Andrew interviews Xander and Anya for his documentary about Buffy, and ends up getting them to discuss what went wrong in their relationship. Xander and Anya admit that they still love each other, and probably always will. They sleep together, but both agree it was just a "one more time" despite their mutual enjoyment.

    Touched - Original Airdate: May 6, 2003
    With the impending apocalypse, everyone is looking for a bit of passion. Anya and Xander commiserate together over ice cream and decide that their last "one more time" bears repeating - this time on the kitchen floor.

    Chosen - Original Airdate: May 20, 2003
    While they may not quite be back together, Xander and Anya seem to be content with each other once again, as Anya affectionately touches Xander's hair and Xander calls her sweetie at one point in the episode. But things aren't meant to be - Anya is killed in the big battle at the high school. When Andrew tells Xander that Anya died saving his life, Xander fondly remarks, "That's my girl. Always doing the stupid thing."
