Coming Up Necks on Buffy and Angel...
The title characters on Buffy the Vampire Slayer
and Angel better brace
themselves: Tonight's
crossover event —
starting at 8 pm/ET on
the WB — features the
much-anticipated return
of queen vamp Drusilla
(Juliet Landau).
However, according to
co-executive producer
Marti Noxon, the
ex-lover of Angel (David
Boreanaz) and Spike
(James Marsters) won't be commuting between
both shows for long.
"The initial crossover shows her on Buffy, but she's
really going to be populating the Angel universe,"
Noxon tells TV Guide Online. "That's where we're
going to be seeing more of her."
Considering the winning chemistry between Landau
and Marsters, some Buffy fans will no doubt feel that
such news bites big time. But as Noxon explains,
Drusilla's services were in greater demand on Angel.
"In the Angel world, they're attempting to go a little
more ensemble, and to have a little bit more of a
season-long arc with characters, like we do on
Buffy," she says. "So, it just felt right to bring a
character who had some history and some weight
and to take her over to the other show.
"Now, she may come over to Buffy at some point if
[Juliet's] willing," Noxon adds. "I definitely think Drusilla
may show up in our world."
For her part, Landau is game for Dru to go another
round with Buffy, although she stops short of voting
her the ghoul most likely to put the bite on The Chosen
One. "If they were to go at it, I really don't know who
would come out on top," admits the actress. "But Dru
probably wouldn't be all that conventional in her way
of fighting. She would be a force to be reckoned
with, that's for sure."
