Beauty, popularity, and
impeccable fashion sense are just a few of the qualities that help define
the character of Cordelia Chase. When a gorgeous, mysterious beauty begins
to invade Cordelia's spotlight with the men of the Bronze, though, she
undergoes a shift in priorities. With an upcoming school quiz-show contest
looming, Cordelia decides it's time to flaunt her intelligence . . . by
any means necessary!

Art:
4/5 The art is back to being great again (finally)!! Cordy
doesn't always look just like CC, but you can easily tell it's her.
Buffy and the rest of the gang all look wonderful, and Selke looks good
(though quite slutty).
Cover:
4/5 I really like this cover and Cordy looks great, but Buffy looks
a little too young again (#11).
Story:
4.5/5 I'm really enjoying the ongoing development of Selke and the
doctor, so that was great having them back. Also, I liked the premise
of Cordy wanting to prove she's not just a beauty (though I don't think
she needed the brooch for that since she is pretty smart). I thought
it was kind of silly that Giles was blurting out to everyone what the brooch
did though. The main reason I didn't give this a five is that Angel
was only in one cell and that was it. They may as well have
left him out completely! Jeez!
Overall
score: 4/5

As Sunnydale becomes an
increasingly hazardous place to kill vampires, Buffy begins to suspect
there might be something amiss . . . as do Spike and Dru, newly returned
to town and none too happy to find that Selke has set up shop in their
old haunt. Meanwhile, Buffy begins to question her relationship with Angel.
And just what do Selke and the Doctor have in store for the ancient Slayer
relic they hold in their possession?
Anna says:
Art:
4.5/5 Again, the art is really great and Spike looks just like James
Marsters, though Dru is not quite like Juliet Landau but nonetheless distiguishible.
Buffy and Angel are both very well drawn and the Scooby Gang looks just
as they should for the small part that we see them.
Cover:
5/5 I love the cover!! It's a great rendering of both Spike
and Dru and I really like the added touch of Buffy lurking in the background.
Story:
3.5/5 It's wonderful to have Spike and Dru back and they are definitely
the best part of this story. I also liked the Buffy and Angel interaction.
It was nice to have Angel in a major role again. The storyline of
Todd's crush on Buffy was pretty weak though (where is the world did he
get enough money to buy her a nice car?) and could have easily been looked
over. I'm confused about the Selke storyline in this issue.
Why is Selke suddenly lounging in the background and the doctor ordering
the vamps around? And what is with the slime slayer? I like
weird, but that's going overboard.
Overall:
4/5

She alone will stand against the vampires . . . the demons . . . and the forces
of Darkness . . . wait, she can't even drive yet! Learning how to operate an
automobile is a rite of passage that all teenagers face, the Chosen One being
no different. And while Buffy faces the horrors of Drivers' Ed., Selke and the
Doctor are busy breeding disaster for Sunnydale. Does their evil alchemy spell
disaster for Buffy and the gang? Have we seen the last of the super-vampires
that have plagued Sunnydale lately? Will Buffy get her driving permit?! There's
only one way to find out!
