Groo enters the lobby of the hotel carrying a tray with two mugs and greens on it. He has made Mock-Na -- a drink that soothes tension. He knows Cordy is tense, and he wants to help her relax. However, since not all the ingredients were available in this dimension, he made some substitutions. Cordy takes a sip, which is all she can manage. Groo proposes rubbing Cordy's Schlug-Tee, but she misunderstands him, thinking he wants to have sex. Angel arrives back, and Cordy immediately shifts her attention from Groo to Angel. Angel found Holtz, but he didn't kill him. They talked about Connor, and Holtz wants what is best for him, which means that Connor should live with Angel. Cordy is delighted to hear this news, and hugs Angel, while Groo watches.
Meanwhile, Connor is cradling Holtz's dead body, while Justine feeds him lies about how Angelus killed Holtz. She offers to help Connor kill Angel, but Connor doesn't want to.
Angel and Cordy are touring around the hotel, while Angel tries to pick out a room for Connor. They've seen about six rooms, when Angel finally decides on one. He realizes how out of date he is when he starts thinking about owning a TV, and giving Connor an allowance. He's worried about Connor hating him, but Cordy reassures him that Connor will come around. Lorne enters and says that Connor can have his room - he's going to Vegas. Cordy suggests he stays and rebuilds his club, but Lorne reminds her that the Angel Investigations team has destroyed his club three times. He is leaving partly due to Connor, but a friend has a club, and needs him there. Before leaving, he warns Angel not to turn his back on Connor any time soon.
A pick-up truck pulls into a field. Justine has brought Connor and Holtz to a field that resembles England, to bury Holtz. Connor thinks it looks more like the ranch where he was going to grow up with Holtz in Utah. Justine smiles as she remembers this dream, but her smile disappears as Connor reveals that it was just going to be Holtz and Connor. Connor knows nothing about the part Justine played in his kidnapping. She offers to help bury Holtz, but Connor isn't burying him. He was bitten by "the beast" and he could rise again. He picks up what looks like a shovel, and brings it down onto Holtz's body after saying goodbye. They place his body on a pyre, and watch it burn.
Lilah walks up to Wesley in a half empty bar, and sits down with him. She is still trying to recruit Wesley for Wolfram and Hart, and begins taunting him over the prospect that Connor could kill his former employees. She continues ribbing Wesley, and asks him what it was like when his throat was slit. He grabs her by the throat, and tells her that she will soon find out.
Groo is lying on the settee in the lobby of the hotel when Fred and Gunn come in. They need to find Angel to tell him that Connor got away. Groo tells them that they are trying out bedrooms for Angel's son, and Angel and Cordy come down the stairs. Angel wants Cordy to explain the whole love-of-a-man-and-woman thing, but Cordy is reluctant. Angel reveals that he heard Cordy and Groo's earlier conversation, when he asks Cordy about her Schlug-Tee. Cordy whispers a threat into Angel's ear. Angel becomes all business, however, when he learns that his son is missing. Connor isn't missing for long, because he shows up in the hotel. Angel gives Connor the letter, and says that he doesn't have to stay with him forever; they can just try it out for awhile. Connor agrees.
The next morning, Connor is sitting on his bed, rereading Holtz's letter. Angel enters with a bookcase, and some books for Connor to read. He wants to know if Connor wants to do anything. Connor lunges at Angel and says he wants to know how Angel fights. Angel smiles, and decides to teach him some stuff.
Down in the lobby, Angel is training Connor with the help of Gunn and Fred. Fred is a civilian in trouble, while Gunn is a vampire. Angel watches Connor, and even though he is doing very well, he criticizes Connor's lack of balance. Cordy comes downstairs, and wants to know who is going to clean up the training mess. Angel realizes it has been a long day, but Connor wants to keep on going. Angel invites Cordy to come to the movies with them that night. And she agrees - a little to enthusiastically, until she realizes she and Groo already have plans. As Cordy leaves, Angel resumes Connor's training.
Cordy enters her apartment, with some food for Groo. When she places the food on the table, she spots Groo. He tells her that he is wrong for her, and that she is in love with someone else. Meanwhile, Angel enters a knock at this door. It is Lorne. He has come to say good-bye to Angel, and to pass on a kernel of information - the feelings he has for Cordy are mutual. While Lorne talks to Angel about his feelings for Cordy, Groo is doing the same with her. Groo ends by telling Cordy he will stay if she loves only him. When she doesn't, he turns and leaves. Cordy stands silently, watching Groo go.
Angel, Connor, Fred and Gunn are sitting in Angel's car, watching an action movie at a drive in theatre. Fred has polished off a jumbo tub of popcorn, and asks Gunn to get her a refill. As Gunn walks off, Connor jumps as an airplane appears to head straight for him. Angel reassures Connor that it is make-believe, but a real helicopter with a searchlight flies over the edge of the screen. When the spotlight centers on Angel's car, he tells Fred to get down. Angel and Connor jump out of the car, and Gunn heads back, taking on two Commandos. From the inside of a nearby van, Linwood and Gavin are watching the fight. Linwood still can't wait to cut Connor up, and see what is in side of him.
As the fight continues, Connor protects Angel from coming attacks. The mission is aborted as the commandos see they are greatly out-matched by Gunn, Connor, Angel and Fred. Angel spots the van Linwood is in, and rips open the backdoors. He grabs Linwood, and pulls him out of the van. He wants to kill Linwood, but Connor grabs him and throws him back into the van, warning Linwood to stay away from his father. When Linwood calls him Steven, Connor corrects him. Fred and Gunn smile at each other and they head for home after the van peels out of the drive-in theatre.
Cordy is looking at a picture of herself with Angel and Wesley. She can't believe that she has feelings for Angel. She hears her voice, and looks up. There is a phantom version of herself superimposed on the wall of her apartment, and it is admitting that she is in love with Angel. When her phantom-self vanishes, Cordy thanks it.
Angel, Connor, Gunn and Fred walk into the lobby of the hotel just as the phone is ringing. Angel runs to grab it, and begins talking to Cordy. Cordy wants to talk to him -- in person. It could be something good, depending on how Angel feels -- about her. She wants to meet him at Point Dume. They are both excited, and nervous about this meeting. Connor picks up on the fact that Cordy and Angel are going to meet, and he tells Angel that he likes Cordy - she is beautiful, and she cares about him. When Angel starts humming, Fred notices that he is really happy. She starts poking him with a stake to make sure that he doesn't get too happy (otherwise his curse could be lifted).
Wesley slowly rises off of his bed, and rolls off of Lilah. He kicks Lilah out of the bed, and watches her as she pulls on her clothes. Wesley asks her if she is still there, and she tells him that she is starting to like him. She thinks it is interesting how Wes' former boss has a soul, while Wes is losing his. She picks up her bra and jacket, and leaves Wes staring at his ceiling.
Angel has pulled up to Point Dume, and he gets out of the convertible, checking how his breath smells.
Cordy, however, is stuck in traffic on the freeway. She tries to get ahead of slow traffic, but to no avail. She checks her breath as well.
Angel pulls out his cell phone to call Cordy, but it tumbles out of his had and it falls down the side of the cliff.
Cordy is trying to prepare herself for her "date" with Angel, when she begins to glow. As the light spreads, it streams out of the windows of her car, and everything around her slows down to a stop. Everyone, except for her, is frozen in time.
Angel checks his watch again, and heads over to his car. He spots Connor walking up to him. Connor says that they are family, and he wants to show Angel how he feels about that. He lunges at Angel and they both tumble over the cliff. Angel tries to defend himself, but Connor catches him off balance and throws him to the sand.
Cordy (looking exactly like Phantom Cordy) gets out of her car, when Skip approaches her. She's frightened, but she wants to know what is going on. Cordy thinks she is dying, and gets angry with Skip for not telling her first thing that she isn't dying. Skip informs her that this is not the end. She is a great warrior, and the battle she is a part of is fought on many different planes and dimensions. She has outgrown this dimension, and it is time for her to move on to a higher plane. The Powers that Be were testing her - they wanted to see if the power they gave her would corrupt her, but it didn't. She used her powers wisely, even if she used it to see at night one time. It is time for her to leave this dimension and move onto the next.
Connor kicks Angel in the face, as Angel tries to talk to him. He wants to know what is going on. Connor pulls a tazer out of his pocket, and zaps Angel with it. He goes flying into the sea, and Connor begins heating Angel. When a wave rolls over them, Angel manages to roll on top of Connor. But Connor continuously zaps Angel with the tazer until he stops moving. Connor pulls out a flashlight, and makes signals to Justine, who pulls up to the shore in a boat.
Cordy wishes that she had time to meet with Angel. It was supposed to be one of the most important conversations of her life. She asks Skip if she can talk to Angel, but there is no time. When Skip refuses to even pass a message on for her, she realizes that this is the last test.
Angel wakes up to the sound of a screw-gun, in a metal casket. Connor is tightened screws on it. Connor accuses Angel of murdering Holtz, but Angel denies it, as he doesn't even know Holtz is dead. Connor believes that death is too good for Angel - he should have to live forever.
Skip turns to Cordy, motioning that it is time to go. She says she is going to have a big talk with the Powers that Be if she ever comes face-to-face with them. She agrees to leave, and golden lights appear around her and she begins to float up into the sky.
Connor is still tightening screws on Angel's coffin. Angel wants Connor to know that it isn't his fault - and that no matter what, he will always love him. Connor and Justine ignore Angel, and slide the top of the coffin into place. Justine welds it down, and then they tip the coffin into the ocean. Justine heads back for shore as Connor watches the coffin slowly descend.
Back at the hotel, Fred and Gunn realize that they are the only people left in the hotel. Gunn has tried reaching both Angel and Cordy on their cell phones, but nobody is answering. Why? Because Cordy is ascending into a higher dimension, while Angel is descending to the depths of the Pacific Ocean.
