Cordy is rubbing her pregnant belly, telling everyone that her pregnancy did come as quite a shock. Fred and Gunn can't say anything and Angel goes over to the couch to sit down. Cordy didn't want to say anything because of all the craziness that was going on. Lorne is disappointed that he didn't notice the mystical pregnancy. She's almost to term, but Wesley remembers the last time she was impregnated -- she came to term overnight ("Expecting"). She says that is it different this time. Connor is angered that the group is making jokes about Cordy's child, and he leaves. Cordy watches Connor leave and says that she knows it is hard to understand. She looks at her belly, and talks to her "sweet" baby. She can feel that they are connected. Since she is turned away from the group, they don't see Cordy's spawn moving underneath Cordy's skin.
In a park, a man in a trench coat is waiting for someone. He turns around, and gasps when he spots Gwen Raiden there. She wants to know if he has her stuff. She chides him for being conspicuous looking -- he'll look a lot more normal if he didn't look so nervous. The man stops, and warns Gwen that she is going up against some very powerful people who will kill her if they catch her. Gwen isn't concerned; she wants the information. She's not going anywhere without Lisa. She puts an envelope into the man's coat pocket, and he hands her an envelope containing security, blueprints and background information. The guy starts to ask Gwen if she might want to go out with him, but is interrupted when Gwen is struck by lightning. She gets up as the man runs away.
Fred wonders if they were too harsh on Connor and Cordy, but Wes doesn't think they were. Gunn recounts the whole affair -- two vampires having a kid who grows up in a hell dimension who just happens to get Cordy, a part-demon former higher being, pregnant. Fred wonders why Lorne's sanctuary spell didn't work -- the first time Connor tried to attack Angelus, he got knocked "halfway to Abilene", which means that Connor has to be at least part demon. Lorne wonders if Angel should be a part of their discussion, and he walks into the lobby recounting the key parts of their conversation. He heard everything from his office. Angel explains that they all knew the risks of letting Angelus out, but some people paid a higher price than others. Looking over at Wes, he says that the Beast had killed Lilah, not Angelus. Angel says there is no excuse for what Angelus did after Lilah was dead, and he tells Wes he is sorry for his loss. They have two pressing issues to take care of now: Cordy's pregnancy and stopping the Beast's master. Angel wants Lorne to find out if there is any news in town about this new player. Wesley is to find out any information on mystical births that he can. Gunn is supposed to sit tight, and he glares at Angel for this lack of activity. Angel is going to try and remember everything he knows about the Beast master, but before he can continue, Gwen interrupts him.
She has walked in through their front door, unnoticed. She and Fred exchange some catty words, and Angel tells her that it isn't a good time. Gwen continues on, saying there is a girl in trouble, and she needs Gunn's help.
Cordy is trying to convince Connor that he can't let what the others said bother him. He's brooding, but he says that he doesn't care what they say. Things that Cordy has said to him haven't made sense -- Willow didn’t do evil, she put back Angel's soul. Cordy tells him that everything happens for a reason; everything that happened in the past has led to her being pregnant. He doesn't care; he wants to know why Cordy sent him to the basement to kill Angel. She tells him that it was her instincts that told her that the baby was in danger. She knows that she can trust him completely, and she wants him to remember that there is always a reason for everything.
At Gwen's place, Gunn is looking at small stone figurines while Gwen briefs him on the mission. She collects the figures when she goes on trips. Gunn collects scars, burns and other injuries when he goes away. Gwen explains the situation she is in; she was hired for by "Company A" to ensure that "Company B"'s newest equipment doesn't work. Company B kidnapped a girl named Lisa, and Gwen needs to save her. Takeshi Morimoto is holding her, and threatening to kill the girl if Company A doesn't admit to what they've done. Gunn wants to know if Gwen is expected by Morimoto, but she says that nobody knows that she is involved. As she explains the plan, Gunn starts chuckling. It feels good to get out and help someone after the soap opera his life has been for the past while.
A limo pulls up to Morimoto's place. Gunn and Gwen step out, both dressed to the nines. They pass through the first security checkpoint all right, but there is a problem with Gwen's ticket. They are surrounded by security guards. Gwen wants to blow the guards away, but Gunn begins smooth-talking Morimoto. Gunn is extremely suave, and Morimoto lets the two come into the party.
Fred and Wes are busy researching mystical pregnancies. Fred is grossed out by the images in her head, including thinking of Cordy and Connor being together. Wes says that things happen when people feel lost and lonely (like him and Lilah).
Gwen wants to know how Gunn got to be such an ambassador, and he says that if you watch enough samurai movies, you learn a thing or two about etiquette, and giving gifts. Gwen looks through the crowd, and spots Lisa. She is surrounded by a group of guards.
Angel is sitting in his room, drawing, when he tells Cordy to enter the room. She's creeped out that he knew she was there. Angel says that he's pretty creeped out himself. He's trying to come up with as much information on the Beast as he can. He's not convinced that the Beast killed Manny, or orchestrated the other parts of the elaborate events of the past few months. It must have been his master. Cordy's mocks this plan, saying that it's pretty risky business. Angel says that from hearing the master in his head, he's insane enough to do that. Cordy takes offence at this and it is obvious that Angel is trying to get a rise out of her; he suspects something.
Gunn is speaking with Morimoto and a jewel-laden lady, until Gwen interrupts them. It's time. She'll create a distraction for Gunn. As he approaches the girl, Gwen knocks over a coffee table. Gunn grabs the girl and runs off. Gwen then yells out that somebody has grabbed the girl -- Gunn's been crossed.
Gunn pulls the girl into a nearby room, telling her that they're almost out. A guard knocks him over the head, and he falls to the floor. He picks himself up, and makes short work of the guards that have attacked him. He remarks that it is good to let off steam. Gunn tells the little girl that he's going to get her home, and she tells him that she is home. Her name isn't Lisa; it is Aiko Morimoto, and her father is going to kill him when he finds out that he tried to hurt her. Gunn leaves the room.
Gwen is in Morimoto's study, trying to crack a safe. Gunn walks in, and says he knows why she wanted him; she needed somebody with a heart beat to get through the security scanners. Gwen admits that her plan wasn't all she told Gunn it was, but that shouldn't matter; Gunn was enjoying himself out there. Gwen is still doing good; she's liberated L.I.S.A. (Localized Ionic Sensory Activator), a device worn by black ops that regulates body temperature, heart beat and chemistry. She's been hired to steal it. Gunn begins to walk out, but he stays when Gwen tells him he can keep his suit.
Angel is working on something at his desk as Fred and Wes hover over him. He shows them a sketch pad as Fred gives Wes a cup of coffee. Cordy walks in, and finds out Angel is trying to recreate the passage from Lilah's book on the Beast (the one that Angelus destroyed). He thinks there is definitely something important in there. Wesley begins translating the text, and Cordy gets ready to spill the cup of coffee on the paper. She stops when the translation proves to be gibberish. Angel gets back to work, and Cordy, Wes and Fred leave the office.
Gwen manages to crack the safe and removes L.I.S.A. She suggests they split up, but Gunn refuses. It's too late though; Morimoto and four security guards are standing in the doorway.
Angel hands Wesley a new sketch, and Wesley translates it. Unfortunately, it is all gibberish again. Angel throws down his sketch book, and makes to leave, but Lorne stops him. There is good news; he's gotten a spell that should unclog his empathic abilities. He needs to perform the ritual by himself, and by sunrise, he'll be able to read Cordy. She smiles at him tensely.
Gwen refuses to give L.I.S.A. back to Morimoto. The security guards pull out their guns, and Gunn tries to convince her to give it back; it's not worth their lives. She flips out, and shocks Morimoto and his men with electricity. The intensity of the electricity causes her to double over. When she recovers herself, Gunn confronts her about her lies. She wasn't stealing the device for someone else; it was for her. She thinks it might fix her. They leave before the guards have time to recover consciousness.
Lorne walks into the basement of the Hyperion. He sets up some candles on a table, unaware that Cordy is watching him.
Gwen and Gunn have arrived back at her apartment. Without Gunn, Gwen wouldn't have been successful. Gunn says that he's just the muscle, but she tells him not to knock it -- he got them in with little damage. Gwen hopes that L.I.S.A. will make her normal or even just able to hold hands. She leads Gunn into her room, and slips her dress down to her waist. She lies across her bed, moving her hair away to expose her back. Gunn sits on the edge of her bed, and takes L.I.S.A. out of the box. He reaches out to touch Gwen's skin, and gets a shock. Cautiously, he places L.I.S.A. on Gwen's back. Text scrolls across the screen, and probes insert themselves into her skin, securing itself onto her. They wait, and Gunn hesitantly touches her back. Nothing happens; L.I.S.A. worked. Gwen gathers her dress around her chest and sits up to thank Gunn. He thanks her first, and kisses her. She pulls away, not sure if the prototype will work. Gunn says she's already killed him once, and he leans in again. They kiss.
Lorne is chanting, preparing his spell, as Cordy approaches him. Lorne continues, unaware as Cordy gets closer and prepares to stab him. Before she can reach Lorne, she is stopped by Angel, Fred and Wesley. Lorne removes a cloth off of a ball, revealing it to be a Magic 8 Ball. He shakes it, and asks if Cordy has been a "bad, bad" girl. It shows "Definitely."
